<p style=”text-align: justify;”>Agra is a shopper’s paradise. Agra as a place offers so much to discover and buy that even ‘Shopcoholics’ start puffing and panting. The city was the capital of the mighty Moguls for decades therefore it is but natural that the city has also developed as a major commercial center. The city has been home to the handicraft industry for centuries and that is why it has some very good items to offer. Though the city, populace and its crafts suffered considerably from the bloodbath of Partition, it staggered but learnt to stand again. <br /> <br /> Agra is known for its fabulous marble-made handicrafts and soft stone inlay work. The Mughal were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Noor Jahan took personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in Zari embroidery work. Therefore there are some good Zari items on the offer. Do buy a few for your dear ones. Marble work is another draw in Agra. The miniatures that include souvenirs and images of Hindu deities make a good buy. The travel to Agra is, frankly, incomplete without buying a small but beautiful marble replica of Taj. <br /> <br /> But that is not all. Agra is major center for leather wares as well. The city was once home to some of the best producers of formal leather shoes in the world. The industry staggered due to the aftermath of partition but has once again re-invented itself. Do buy a few export quality shoes and sandals. They might cost you a fortune back there in America or Europe. Agra is also famous for its sweets ‘Petha’ and ‘Gazak’ and salty snack ‘Dalmoth. There are some good shops for the same. ‘Panchi Petha’ at the station road is considered the best among the lot. The shop offers tens of varieties of ‘Petha’ and ‘Gazak’ <br /> <br /> The main shopping areas of the city are Sadar Bazar, Kinari Bazar, Raja-ki-Mandi, Sanjay Place and the Taj Mahal Complex. Shopping is recommended at the Govt. Emporia or Souvenir Shops approved by Uttar Pradesh Tourism. The state run emporium offer authentic stuffs on bargain price.</p>
